Plugins/Cursor
BudgetPixel for Cursor
AI images, video, music & sound effects — one slash command, inside your editor
The official BudgetPixel plugin adds /budgetpixel to Cursor: describe a poster, a five-second clip, a lo-fi track or an upscale and get the file back without leaving the chat. It runs on the BudgetPixel MCP server, so there is nothing to install and no API key to manage — sign in with Google once and your plan credits and discounts apply automatically.
/add-plugin budgetpixelFree, MIT-licensed plugin · built on the BudgetPixel MCP server
Install in one minute
The plugin for the slash command, or the bare MCP server if you prefer to let the agent pick tools itself. Both authenticate with a one-time Google sign-in.
Add the plugin
In Cursor's chat panel, run:
/add-plugin budgetpixelSign in once
Your first /budgetpixel call opens a Google sign-in for your BudgetPixel account. That's the whole setup — no key to paste.
Generate
Describe what you want after the command. The plugin quotes credits before anything expensive runs.
/budgetpixel A cinematic poster of a lighthouse in a storm, 16:9Open MCP settings
Cursor → Settings → MCP → Add new global MCP server.
Add the server
Paste the BudgetPixel server as an HTTP entry in mcp.json:
"budgetpixel": { "url": "https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp" }Sign in and use the tools
The agent can now call generate_image, generate_video, generate_music and the rest directly — without the /budgetpixel command.
This is the same server the plugin uses; the plugin just adds the slash command.
Add the server
From any terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http budgetpixel https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcpSign in once
The first tool call opens the Google sign-in for your BudgetPixel account.
Ask for media
"Generate a 16:9 hero image for the landing page" — Claude Code picks the tool and model.
What a session looks like
Plain language in, media out. Follow-ups refer to the previous result, so a still becomes a clip and a clip gets a soundtrack in the same conversation.
/budgetpixel A cinematic poster of a lighthouse in a storm, 16:9
/budgetpixel Turn that into a 5 second clip at 480p
/budgetpixel Write a 30 second lo-fi track for a coding video
/budgetpixel Upscale the render to 16 MP
Video is priced per second and by resolution — the plugin quotes the cost and asks before running anything expensive.
Twelve tools under one command
The same tool set the MCP server exposes to Claude and ChatGPT. Models, prices and input limits come live from the catalogue, so new BudgetPixel models appear without a plugin update.
generate_image
Text-to-image, editing, image-to-image and multi-reference generation.
generate_video
Text-to-video, image-to-video with start and optional end frame, reference-to-video, video-to-video editing.

Foley, ambience, UI sounds, impacts and transitions — optionally synced to a video's events.
upscale_image
Higher resolution in seconds, or creative detail enhancement steered by a prompt.
upscale_video
1080p or 4K at 30 or 60 fps via Topaz Labs; inputs up to 20 seconds.

The live model catalogue with prices, role hints and per-model input limits.

Your plan, your prices

FAQ
Do I need an API key?+
No. The plugin talks to the BudgetPixel MCP server, which authenticates with a one-time Google sign-in. Nothing is written to your project or settings files.
How is usage billed?+
Generations use credits from your BudgetPixel plan at the same prices as budgetpixel.com, with your plan discounts applied. Video is priced per second and by resolution, so /budgetpixel quotes the cost and asks before running anything expensive. The plugin itself is free.
Which plan do I need?+
Any paid plan — Starter, Basic, Premium, Pro or Ultra. Free-plan users can browse the model catalogue; the generation tools return an upgrade notice.
Can I use the MCP server without the plugin?+
Yes. Add https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp as an HTTP MCP server in Cursor, Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client. The plugin only adds the /budgetpixel command on top.
Where do the generated files go?+
Each result comes back as a URL you can drop into your project, plus it appears in your BudgetPixel generation history. Finished pieces can be published to the community feed with create_social_post.
