Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5: We Tested Both Side by Side (2026)
We ran the same four prompts through Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5, one take each. Seedance 2.5 followed our camera directions more closely, clearly in the talking test and narrowly in the action test, and it was faster. Kling 4.0 costs about a third less at 720p and less than half at 1080p, and it made the more spectacular water splash. Both make sound with the video, and both said our line word for word.

Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 are two of the strongest AI video models you can use today: Kling 4.0 from Kuaishou, released on October 28, 2026, and Seedance 2.5 from ByteDance. We gave them the same four prompts, one take each and no retries, and put the results side by side. Here's what we found, what each one costs, and which to pick for what.

How we tested
Each model got the same prompt, 5 seconds, 720p and the 16:9 shape, with sound on. We ran each prompt once and used that take, good or bad. In the videos below, Kling 4.0 is on top and Seedance 2.5 underneath. Each video plays twice: first with Kling 4.0's sound, then with Seedance 2.5's. A yellow tag shows which one you're hearing. Turn the sound on to compare. We matched the loudness of the two; as delivered, Kling 4.0's sound was 6 to 13 dB louder.
Test 1: talking to the camera
Handheld close-up at a busy night market: a cheerful noodle vendor in her fifties, in a red apron, tosses noodles in a smoking wok, then looks straight into the camera and says: "Best noodles in the city, I promise." Steam and warm string lights behind her, crowd chatter and sizzling sounds.
Both models said the line exactly, with market sounds around it. The difference is the camera. Seedance 2.5 gave us the handheld close-up we asked for: shallow focus, steam drifting past, the vendor turning from the wok to the lens. Kling 4.0 framed a wider, steadier shot, and its noodle toss is a strange golden clump rising out of the wok. Seedance 2.5 wins this one.
Test 2: action and physics
Low tracking shot alongside a skateboarder on a rain-soaked neon street at night: he pushes off, pops a kickflip over a wide puddle and lands cleanly, water splashing up in arcs, neon reflections rippling. The camera keeps pace at knee height. Sound of wheels on wet asphalt and the snap of the board.
Both skaters flip the board, land it and throw up water from the puddle, which is harder than it sounds for AI video. The difference is the camera. Seedance 2.5 stayed at knee height beside the board, as we asked. Kling 4.0 filmed from higher up and further back, which shows more of the street and a bigger, more spectacular splash. In both clips the neon signs are made-up lettering, so don't count on either for readable text in the background. Seedance 2.5 by a nose for following the camera directions; Kling 4.0 for the splash.
Test 3: a photo brought to life
We gave both models the same starting picture, a photo-style picture of a man at an art show that we made with GPT Image 2.5 Flare, and this prompt:
He lowers the print, laughs and turns to high-five the friend behind him, while the sparkler crackles and the crowd cheers; the camera drifts slightly to the right.
Both kept his face, curly hair and violet cardigan for the whole clip, and both made the high-five. Kling 4.0 turned him back to face the camera at the end, which makes a tidier clip to post. Seedance 2.5's high-five is bigger and clearer, but he ends with his back to us. A close call; Kling 4.0 by a nose for a clip you'd post.
Test 4: anime
2D anime style with a hand-drawn look: a girl in a yellow raincoat rides a bicycle along a seaside road at sunset, cherry blossom petals swirling past, her hair and coat flapping in the wind; the camera pans with her, the sea glittering below. Gentle piano music and a bicycle bell.
Both look hand-drawn, with soft sunset light and drifting petals. Kling 4.0 made a little sequence: a side view, a close-up of her face, then a wide shot of the coast road, like the opening of an anime series. We asked for one panning shot, though, and Seedance 2.5 kept to that, with one steady shot of her riding toward the camera. A draw: Seedance 2.5 for following the prompt, Kling 4.0 for drama.
What do they cost?
Both are priced per second on BudgetPixel, and the price shows before you generate:
| 480p | 720p | 1080p | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kling 4.0 | Not offered | 207 credits a second | 310 credits a second |
| Seedance 2.5 | 150 credits a second | 330 credits a second | 750 credits a second |
So a 5-second clip at 720p costs 1,035 credits with Kling 4.0 and 1,650 with Seedance 2.5, about 94 cents against $1.50 on the Basic plan. At 1080p the gap widens: 1,550 credits against 3,750. Seedance 2.5's 1080p files come as H.265, which some older browsers can't play.
Our four tests cost 10,740 credits in all: 4,140 for Kling 4.0 and 6,600 for Seedance 2.5. A failed or refused job costs nothing. For the full Seedance 2.5 price list, see our Seedance 2.5 pricing guide.

How we tested, in detail
- When: October 30, 2026, on BudgetPixel, with the API that the Video Workshop uses.
- Settings: 5 seconds, 720p and 16:9 for both models, with sound on. The photo test used a 16:9 picture as the starting frame. Nothing else was changed from the defaults.
- Takes: one per model per prompt, all shown, none retried or picked.
- Times: from submitting the job to receiving the file, so they include any queue.
- Sound: both models' sound tracks were loudness-matched in the side-by-side videos. Everything else is as the models made it, at 1280 by 720 and 24 frames a second.
