The Best MCP Servers for AI Image and Video Generation in 2026
An MCP server lets an AI assistant like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor make pictures, video and music for you. As of October 2026, our own BudgetPixel server is our pick for most people: one sign-in reaches 32 image models, 9 video models, music, sound effects, 3D, upscaling and depth maps, from $10 a month. Magnific covers a similar range, fal suits developers who pay per run, Runway and Higgsfield suit their own subscribers, and Canva is the pick for finished designs.

An MCP server is a set of tools an AI assistant can use. Connect a media one to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, and you can ask for a picture, a video or a song in the chat, and the assistant makes it with your account. As of October 2026, about a dozen companies run one for images or video.
The one we'd pick for most people is BudgetPixel's. We make it, so weigh that, but one sign-in covers pictures, video, music, sound effects and 3D from $10 a month, with a monthly spend cap. Below is what we made with it in three generation calls, then all twelve servers compared, and how to connect them.
What can an MCP server make for you?
We asked BudgetPixel's MCP server for a rooftop DJ set: a photo, a clip from the photo, and a track to go with it. That's three generation calls (plus status checks), the same ones Claude or Cursor make when you ask in plain words.
First, the photo, with generate_image on GPT Image 2.5 Flare at 2K and high quality, 160 credits:

Then a 5-second clip from that photo, with generate_video on Wan 3.0 at 720p: 600 credits at the standard price (our Ultra plan paid 480, since it takes 20% off Wan):
And a track for it, with generate_music on Music 3.0, 200 credits:
Rooftop Set
Music 3.0, instrumental, through MCP · 3:26
This is what the assistant sends for the clip, word for word apart from the link:
{
"name": "generate_video",
"arguments": {
"prompt": "She scratches the record with one hand and throws the other in the air as the crowd behind her jumps on the beat, confetti drifting through the orange sunset light; the camera pushes in slowly toward the decks. Sounds: a deep house beat, the record scratch, a cheering crowd.",
"model": "wan-3.0-video",
"image": "https://…/dj-photo.png",
"duration_seconds": 5,
"resolution": "720p",
"aspect_ratio": "16:9"
}
}
You don't write any of that yourself: you say "turn that photo into a 5-second clip where she scratches the record", and the assistant fills it in.

1. BudgetPixel: pictures, video, music and 3D on one plan
Best for: creators and teams who want pictures, video, music and sound from one assistant.
BudgetPixel's server at https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp has 21 tools. It reaches 32 image models (GPT Image 2.5, Nano Banana 2.1, FLUX 3, Seedream 5.0 and more), 9 video models (Seedance 2.5, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3, FLUX 3 Video and others), 6 music models, sound effects, 3D models, image and video upscaling and depth maps. It can also cast BudgetPixel characters by @handle and search BudgetPixel's own stock library of AI-made pictures and audio, free to use under CC BY (10 credits a search).
You sign in to your BudgetPixel account with Google; there's no key to paste. Results cost the same credits as on the website, a failed job costs nothing, and anyone can browse the model list before signing up. Generating needs a paid plan, from Basic at $10 a month with 11,000 credits.
Worth knowing: the MCP server has 9 of the 19 video models on BudgetPixel's API (no Kling video yet), most results last 24 hours unless you ask the assistant to save them, and a monthly spend limit in the developer console covers MCP and API use together.
2. fal: 1,000+ models, paid per run
Best for: developers who already use fal or want any model, billed by the run.
fal's server at https://mcp.fal.ai/mcp-relay signs you in with your fal account, with no key needed, and reaches fal's whole catalog: more than 1,000 models when it launched in March 2026. The server itself is free; each run is billed from your fal credits at fal's API prices. One installer sets it up in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and other tools.
Worth knowing: the warning before an expensive run comes from instructions to the assistant, not from a hard limit, so watch your balance.
3. Higgsfield: for Higgsfield subscribers
Best for: people already paying for Higgsfield.
Higgsfield's server at https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp makes images and video with what it calls 30+ models, plus voiceovers and dubbing, signed in with your Higgsfield account. Its help center says an active paid subscription is required and that every generation through an agent uses credits, whatever your plan: unlimited and free generations apply only on Higgsfield's own site. Its published plans start at $15 a month for 200 credits (launch prices, verified October 2026, which can change).
4. Runway: for Runway Pro and Max
Best for: Runway subscribers on Pro or Max.
Runway's server at https://mcp.runwayml.com/mcp launched in May 2026 and offers Runway's own Gen-4.5 alongside models such as Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro, and since October it also makes voiceovers and sound effects. Runway lists MCP access on its Pro plan ($35 a month, $28 billed yearly) and Max.
5. OpenArt: images, video and planned shots
Best for: OpenArt users who plan multi-shot videos.
OpenArt's server at https://mcp.openart.ai/mcp reaches OpenArt's image and video catalog: 16 image and 19 video models when we checked (including Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 4.0, Wan 3.0 and Veo 3.1), plus Smart Shot for planning several shots. It uses your OpenArt credits; paid plans start at $14 a month. It has no separate music, sound-effect or 3D tools, though many of its video models add sound.
6. Magnific (formerly Freepik): the widest tool list
Best for: Freepik users who want stock and generation together.
Magnific (the company formerly called Freepik) runs a server at https://mcp.magnific.com with 236 tools across images, video up to 30 seconds, voice, music and sound effects, 3D, upscaling, depth maps and its stock library. It uses the same credits as the app, and some tools need the Premium plan or higher.
7. Replicate: thousands of models with your own token
Best for: developers who run open-source and hosted models.
Replicate offers a remote server (mcp.replicate.com), or a local one you install with npx -y replicate-mcp, both using your Replicate API token. You pay per run at Replicate's prices.
8. Black Forest Labs: FLUX, straight from its makers
Best for: people who only want FLUX.
Black Forest Labs' server at https://mcp.bfl.ai signs in without keys and makes FLUX images and FLUX 3 video, billed by BFL directly.
9. Krea, Ideogram, Canva and ElevenLabs
- Krea (
https://api.krea.ai/mcp) makes images and video with compute units; the free plan gets 100 a day, though most video models need a paid plan. - Ideogram (
https://mcp.ideogram.ai/mcp) is the specialist for words in pictures, on your Ideogram plan. - Canva (
https://mcp.canva.com/mcp) makes and edits finished designs and exports them, even as MP4, and works on Canva's free plan. It can make a quick AI image too, but pick it for a poster or a slide rather than a photo shoot. - ElevenLabs (
https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp) started with voices; since September its hosted server also makes music, sound effects, images and video, with more than 50 models.
Who doesn't have one yet?
As of October 28, 2026, OpenAI has no image-generation MCP server and Midjourney has only announced a limited test (October 10). Google's only hosted option is for developers: its Agent Platform MCP server on Google Cloud can call Gemini image models and Veo, but needs a Google Cloud project with billing. Community-built servers exist, but they need your own keys and come with no support.
How do you connect an MCP server to your assistant?
Every hosted server above works the same way: you give your assistant the server's link, then sign in. For BudgetPixel:
- Claude (web or desktop): open Customize, then Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it BudgetPixel, paste
https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp, sign in, and turn it on in a chat. Free Claude accounts can add one custom connector. - Claude Code: run
claude mcp add --transport http budgetpixel https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp, then type/mcpand choose Authenticate. - Codex and the ChatGPT desktop app: run
codex mcp add budgetpixel --url https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp, thencodex mcp login budgetpixel. - Cursor: add
{"mcpServers": {"budgetpixel": {"url": "https://mcp.budgetpixel.com/mcp"}}}to your MCP settings and sign in when Cursor opens the browser.
The step-by-step version for Claude, with what to ask once it's connected, is in Can Claude Generate Images?.
How do you choose an MCP server?
- What do you need to make? Most servers do pictures and video. Music, sound effects and 3D are rarer: BudgetPixel and Magnific have all three on one plan, and fal reaches them in its per-run catalog.
- Which models does it have? A server can offer fewer models than its website: BudgetPixel's MCP has 9 video models against 19 on its API.
- How do you pay? A subscription's credits (BudgetPixel, Higgsfield, Runway, OpenArt), pay per run (fal, Replicate, BFL), or a free tier (Canva, Krea).
- Where do results go? Some expire: BudgetPixel keeps most files 24 hours unless you save them. Download or save what you want to keep.
- Can you cap the spend? An assistant can run many jobs in a row. BudgetPixel has a monthly spend limit for MCP and API use; fal's cost check is an instruction to the assistant, and Higgsfield's help center says it has no native credit cap. Check what your server offers before you start.

Questions people ask
What is the best MCP server for image and video generation?
For most people who want more than one kind of media, we'd pick BudgetPixel's (we make it): as of October 2026 one sign-in reaches 32 image models, 9 video models, 6 music models, sound effects, 3D, upscaling and depth maps, paid in credits. Magnific's covers a similar range, developers who pay per run may prefer fal, and Runway or Higgsfield subscribers can use their own plan's MCP server.
Is there an MCP server for video generation?
Yes. BudgetPixel, fal, Higgsfield, Runway, OpenArt, Magnific (formerly Freepik), Krea, Black Forest Labs, Replicate and ElevenLabs all run hosted MCP servers that can make video, as of October 2026. They differ in which video models they offer and how you pay.
Can Claude generate videos?
Not on its own: Claude has no image or video model, so it can only draw with code, like charts and SVGs. Add an MCP server as a custom connector, such as BudgetPixel's (set up from budgetpixel.com/mcp), and Claude can make them for you in the chat.
Can ChatGPT use MCP servers?
Yes. Codex and the ChatGPT desktop app can add MCP servers in their settings. On the web, ChatGPT connects through its plugins directory and custom MCP servers, with rules that depend on your plan.
Are MCP servers free?
The servers are usually free to connect; what you pay for is what they make. BudgetPixel and Higgsfield need a paid plan, fal and Replicate charge per run, Canva's works on its free plan, and Hugging Face gives free accounts five GPU minutes a day.
Is there an official Midjourney, OpenAI or Google MCP server for images?
Not one made for creators, as of October 28, 2026. Midjourney announced a limited test on October 10 and OpenAI has no image-generation MCP server. Google Cloud's Agent Platform has a hosted MCP server that can reach Gemini image models and Veo, but it's a developer tool that needs a Google Cloud project with billing.
How do I add an MCP server to Claude?
In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize, then Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector, and paste the server's URL. Sign in when asked, then turn the connector on in a chat. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http with the name and URL.
Do MCP results stay saved?
It depends on the server. On BudgetPixel, a result's link lasts at least an hour and the file about 24 hours, unless you ask the assistant to save it to your assets (upscales and depth maps are saved for you).
