Tea with Alice and the Cheshire Cat Special Guests : Taliesin and Amergin Amergin (Irish) Poet, druid, and bard of the Milesians. His songs and spoken words were said to hold magical power. He appears as the bard and judge of the Milesians, the legendary final settlers of Ireland. Amergin's stories come from medieval Irish texts that describe events in a mythical past, long before recorded Irish history. Taliesin (Welsh) A legendary bard and poet gifted with supernatural wisdom. He could recall events from the distant past and is often portrayed as one of the greatest storytellers in Celtic tradition. Taliesin is generally associated with the 6th century AD. Scholars believe there may have been a real historical Welsh bard named Taliesin who lived and composed poetry during that period, likely around c. 550-600 AD. Later legends transformed him into a magical poet and prophet.

Wow, I had no clue. Google said he was his chief bard. And get this: --- Otherworldly Survivor: He is depicted as an eternal traveler who witnessed ancient battles, accompanied Arthur on mystical expeditions (such as the raid on Annwn in Preiddeu Annwn), and possessed prophetic insight into Britain's fate ----- In later medieval and romantic adaptations, he is often aligned or contrasted with Merlin as a master of native British magic and bardic tradition. --- Cool, right?

The magic of these comic strips lies in the quality of the graphic style. Large speech balloons tend to diminish it. I like the solution for the caption in Taliesin's panel in the bottom row. A more regular three-line layout, with spaces for captions in a style consistent with the graphics (like in that panel), would represent a significant improvement, in my opinion. 😎

Cool guests today CC. I've only ever heard of the name Taliesin once before [a cast member of Critical Role], so it's interesting to finally see where its origin lies.

I love the lok of these two bards. And that final line!!! (There was some connection between Taliesin and the Arthurian cycle - or perhaps I am mistaken...)

I'm glad you like it. I don't think you'll like the latest one tho -- overly crowded with words
