A tilted wooden chessboard with blue pieces at the back — AI art by @DavidP

I continue to work daily (sadly comes to an end today is my last day of vacation). This exercise inspired by this image ( https://budgetpixel.com/p/4613 ) shared by @Sealine I had the idea to make use of img2img and first setup an authentic chess board, then place it in a scene. First start image for the chess pieces and board would be prepared with a suitable image found on the 'net. 1&2- re-worked into the desired painted style and cleaned it up. Actually missed a trick and could have added a more fitting border 3- My first attempt. I was pleased as this prompt delivered the best result yet, most positive feedback from Claude and only a few prompt changes suggested. 4- Biggest issue with 3 was the scale of the chess pieces. I wanted much larger pieces. I tried and tried but could not get that right. In the end, I opted to try and scale the pieces outside BP 5&6- revised the prompt from 2. These iterations improving but could be better. In the next post I'll share the image I settled on. I think the border around the board could be better, but I am declaring 'done' on this exercise On to another...

I did. I am 60 now and approaching the time of forced retirement... exit from the Bank. I say exit as I shall have to find other gainful employment as can't afford to stop earning at 63 - as such I have accummulated many leave days and things are so quiet over year-end in SA generally and the Bank, so can take a long leave, which is fabulous - many hours of GAI, guitar and chess 🤣

Really great idea and overall worked quite well. Shadows are fantastic in some and I love the realism of the chess pieces in the scene. Looking forward to what you settled on!

Oh and I 100% hear you with that pesky work thing getting in the way. Still work full time as well. *sigh* Hope you had a nice vacation 😀
