Armored military vehicle on a cracked highway beneath dramatic thunderstorm clouds and vivid lightning.
A powerful war scene showing an armored vehicle navigating a desolate highway as a massive thunderstorm explodes overhead. The dark, swirling clouds and bright lightning create a tense, post-apocalyptic mood with debris scattered across the wrecked landscape.

Roger Zelazny, "Damnation Alley". One of my favorite books, by one of my favorite authors, if only because he somehow makes the fantastic seem mundane. I highly recommend it 😁

YES!!! I voted for this and I searched all the entries to see who had done an image from that fantastic novel from one of my best-ever authors! To Roger Zelazny, my friend!

That's great to hear, thank you very much! 🙏🏻😁 I've been a huge fan of Zelazny's since the 80's, when I first started reading the Amber series!

You are wellcome! Me too - same time period!! I started with his SF works - mainly short stories that I found in anthologies. I hadn't started on the Amber series until about a decade ago. Now I have started the second sequence, I'm two books in it. Unfortunately - as with almost all old authors, his books are rapidly vanishing (out of print) and there are quite a few I have not read 🙁
