Google says about the Drosulites : • Appearance: Human-like, shadowy figures dressed in black, walking or riding horses, carrying weapons. • Path: They move silently in a long procession from the monastery of Agios Charalambos toward the Frangokastello fort. • Timing: They appear annually around late May to early June (most notably near the anniversary of May 17). • Duration: The sighting lasts for about 10 minutes at dawn under calm, humid, and dewy weather conditions. Historical Legend • The Battle: The apparition is tied to the Battle of Frangokastello on May 17, 1828, during the Greek War of Independence. • The Fighters: Greek chieftain Hatzimichalis Dalianis and a small force of around 335 to 350 fighters took refuge inside the 14th-century Venetian castle. • The Defeat: After a seven-day siege against a much larger Ottoman army, Dalianis and most of his men were killed. According to local lore, their unburied bodies lay until desert winds covered them with sand from nearby Orthi Ammos beach. The Drosoulites are said to be the restless spirits of these fallen warriors
