The drow gunslinger twisted through the air like a ribbon of smoke, her coat flaring as the Beholder’s disintegration ray sizzled past her. The blast nicked the toe of her handstitched cowgirl boot — a thin, glowing scar creased the leather, snipping a few silver threads. “Hey!” she yelled, voice sharp as stilettos. “Those are my favorite boots!” With a snarl, she fired. The bullet streaked silver through the hazy light, straight into the gargantuan pupil. Splat! The Beholder shuddered once, then folded in on itself like bad geometry. One dead bounty. As smoke curled from her gun's barrel, she said, “No one messes with my boots.” Moral of the story: Shoot the gunslinger, not her boots. You'll survive longer.

lol, everyone plays D&D. I haven't played in a long time and all my books are old and I don't know where my dice are but still. But I can't claim all the credit for this. It's the roll of a dice. Someone set up a challenge. First roll is race, 2nd roll is class, 3rd roll is who they meet. I rolled 13, 14, 3. But since I can't find my dice, they are packed somewhere. my books are packed so I can't see the edition number but I loved playing either a ranger so I could collect animal companions or necromancers. Necromancers could get me the furthest on a quest if I was working alone because of raising minions -- but if I died once, it was all over because they all turned . What did you like to play?

oooh! That'll be fun to see what you roll! Well so far half the people who commented have played (jury is out on @crabmouse --could go either way). That's a lot. 50% I don't know many games that half the people will have played especially when you consider an international community.

Yeah, but your thing is goth, right? They have their own mythologies with vamps, werewolves, ghosts and gods/goddesses of night/death, right? I'm a reader and fantasies, sci fi and mysteries is what I love to read so I pick up a lot that way

I'm a fan of the goth aesthetic. Can't really say I've read too much fantasy, supernatural type books, though I have expanded into more sci-fi as an adult. For a long time I mainly read suspense novels.

3.5? I think. That rings a bell but not sure. -- it's been decades. I played in California and moved back to Arizona when my dad had cancer and then my mom. That's been a long time now.

Hmm, sounds like it could be either 3.5 or 5th edition. I'm most familiar with 5e and 5.5e, and I've only played a druid [Glint, fave duh😋] but I've DM'd as many more.
