*Stargate Atlantis* (2004–2009) is a science fiction adventure series and the first spin-off of *Stargate SG-1*. The story follows an international expedition from Earth that travels through the Stargate to the distant Pegasus Galaxy, where they discover Atlantis, the legendary lost city of the Ancients. Led initially by Dr. Elizabeth Weir, the expedition explores strange new worlds, uncovers the secrets of an advanced civilization, and encounters the Wraith, a terrifying alien species that feeds on human life. Among its memorable characters are the courageous Lt. Col. John Sheppard, brilliant but arrogant scientist Dr. Rodney McKay, compassionate Dr. Carson Beckett, fierce Athosian warrior Teyla Emmagan, and Ronon Dex, a tough, fiercely loyal Satedan warrior who survived years of being hunted by the Wraith. Combining thrilling adventures, witty humor, compelling characters, and the wonder of exploration, *Stargate Atlantis* expanded the Stargate universe while capturing the spirit that made the original series so beloved.
