Emoji Prompting: Tiger Surfing in 19 models

note: Claps are different than likes. You can clap up to 20 claps on a blog. Today's prompt: π¨βοΈ. π― π©³ πββοΈ π π
Day 2. First set of images originally done June 30th. An action emoji like the surfer will often show that action. In some models, an action next to an animal will show the animal doing the action. Do you want to surf? Swap in any of these animals for the tiger and see what you get πΉππββ¬ππΊπΈπ»πΌπΎπΆππ°ππ¦πΊπππππ¦π¦§π―π
ππ»π§ΈπΌπ¨ππ¦ππ¦¬ππ¦π¦π¦π¦π«πππππ¦π§π¦€ Note: credits matter sometimes. Of the low-end credit models P-image, Z-image-turbo and Minimax, only Minimax successfully had a surfing tiger. I'd suggest using one of the models under the Successes heading as they tend to do well with an animal and an action emoji. Successes : Tiger surfing GPT 2 Low / NanoBanana / Wan 2.6 / Ideogram v4 / Grok / Minimax / Flux 2 Pro / SeeDream 5 Lite / Imagineart 1.5 / Flux 2 Dev Semi-successes: Tiger at the beach but not surfing Krea 2 Medium / Kling v3 / Wan 2.7 / Flux Schnell Ultra Fails: No tigers Hidream i1 Fast / Flux-2 Klein / P-image / Z Image Turbo / Qwen Image 2 Extras (some surfing evolutions too) Conclusion Note: I put in the inkpen βοΈ and the paint palette π¨to encourage models to do a more anime or graphic novel styles. That works with some models but not all. Grok added the palette and pen into the image so I regenerated; Krea made the tiger give up surfing in favor of painting the sunset which I quite liked. You'll notice some models go for realism. Note 2: if you put in an emoji doing an action like the surfing guy, then whoever is in your prompt will do the action. Often, not always, if you put an animal next to the action then the animal will do the action. Sometimes like with ImagineArt, you will get a human and animal doing the action. Note 3: Emoji prompting feels like playing bingo. It feels a tad random but in reality you'll find each model tends to favor certain styles so after awhile if you do emoji prompts, you may favor certain models over others. Successes GPT 2 Low Success, Tiger surfing and the style as expected NanoBanana Success, Tiger surfing . The style is ukiyo-e which really surprised me. It's not what I've gotten with NanoBanana before. This one I'll have to test to see if I get the style again Wan 2.6 While Wan 2.7 didn't work out, Wan 2.6 did pretty well with a screenprint vibe. I did have to generate a second time because the first time the tiger had two tails. Ideogram v4 Success, Tiger surfing . The style is more painterly than I expected but I like it a lot. Lovely teal with coral. The focus is on the wave rather than the tiger as the tiger has his back to us. Grok Fail. It did do the Tiger Surfing. And it did an excellent style but it showed the palette and ink pen. Sometimes that happen. If you generate again, maybe the next time there will be no ink pen and palette So I did Grok again with the same prompt and the 2nd time I got this. Isn't this fabulous? Minimax A very realistic tiger surfing. Well realistic except for the he's surfing, lol. I've noticed in emoji only prompts Minimax does tend to favor realism. Flux 2 Pro On the realism side. I do like the wave tho SeeDream 5 Lite Another realism. He's surfing but the wave is almost died out. Imagineart 1.5 This is ok. Sometimes when you do an animal next to a human action emoji like the surfer you get the animal and the human doing the action like here. And it didn't go for an ink and paint/watercolor style but rather reality. This is what you will notice with models when they do emojis. Some like reality a lot. Some like to do art sty les. Flux 2 Dev We got both a tiger and a human surfing but it's like an art style that's almost htere but not quite. Beautiful wave tho Semi-successes Krea 2 Medium Another semi success. Krea decided to ignore the surfer emoji and just go with the painting idea. So this tiger has his paintbrush and palette and is ready to paint spirals on the sky. I like this a lot. It's a fun pic. And that's the think with emoji prompting. Don't get caught up in what you were originally so much that you can't recognize a fun, cool result. Kling v3 No one's surfing but at least the tiger's on the beach at sunset Wan 2.7 This was a strange one. I got a tiger and a surfboard but not a tiger surfing. So I tried it again and the same thing happened. It's like a surfboard advert, I think. Flux Schnell Ultra Well, I think it's the beach. There's water anyways. I like the style a lot even if it looks like the tiger has two heads -- maybe there are two tigers. Fails Hidream i1 Fast Not sure what happened. We have a fox surfing. It's the only model that didn't do either a tiger or a human. Flux-2 Klein No tiger but I did get a cute cat, a surfboard but no surfing, and a beach at sunset and a guy. P-image Fail. No tiger and no surfing although we did get the beach at sunset. Z Image Turbo Fail. Again no tiger and no surfing although we did get the beach at sunset. Qwen Image 2 Fail. Again no tiger and no surfing although we did get a beach. That doesn't look like sunset to me tho. Maybe sunrise. Extras (some surfing emoji evolutions) GPT2 Low (same prompt) GPT 1.5 Low πββοΈπ Note: the basic surfing prompt with the wave. You don't have to add the wave but it makes for a much nicer image GPT 1.5 Low π§πββοΈπ Note: as basic a animal surfing prompt as you can get. GPT 1.5 Low πββοΈπ§ππ Note: here I added a beach. π . The beach emoji has an umbrella which often shows when you use it. done on 4-22-26 GPT 2 Low πββοΈπ§ππ Note: this one was also done on 4-22-26 but I changed the model from GPT 1.5 to the newly released GPT 2. GPT 1.5 Low πΌπββοΈππ Note: I swapped out the πΌ for the π§penguin. The 1.5 model GPT 2 Low πΌπββοΈππ Note: again on 4-22-26 on newly released GPT 2. Now here's the thing. At this stage, I still much preferred GPT 1.5 for emojis. Seems to have more action but within a few months, GPT 1.5 disappeared as a choice to use. GPT 1.5 Low ππββοΈππ Note: I swapped out the π for the πΌ. The 1.5 model GPT 2 Low ππββοΈππ Note: again switched to GPT 2. It's interesting to me this time that GPT2 went for realism while above 1.5 was very cartoony. GPT 1.5 Low π½πββοΈππ Note: I swapped out the π½ for the π. The 1.5 model. I love this alien! Sooo cool looking GPT 1.5 Low π½πββοΈππ Note: did this again in 1.5 but in a square . This time I got an alien like the emoji. One thing I've noticed is in the above 16:9 ratio, often images are better composed and more creative than in square or tall rectangles. I think it's because movies and good photography by professionals are done in 16:9 so the AI learned that ratio is more creative? maybe. It's my theory anyways. GPT 2 Low π½πββοΈππ Note: again switched to GPT 2. While this alien looks much more like the emoji, I much prefer the alien created in 1.5 in the landscape image. Although this one and the alien in the square image could be twins. Maybe it's because this one is square too? Flux 2 Pro π½πββοΈππ Note: I thought I'd see what happened to the alien in other models. 4/24/26 Ideogram v3 Turbo π½πββοΈππ GPT 2 Low ππππ»π±ππ§π»ββοΈπ
Note: I swapped the alien π for the tiger π―, added scream π± and a mermaidπ§π»ββοΈ . 5/16/26 GPT 2 Low ππππ»π±ππ§π»ββοΈπͺΈπ
Note: I added coralπͺΈ GPT 2 Low ππ½ππ»π½π±ππ¦π
Note: I swapped the alien π½ for the tiger π―, added scream π± and a kraken π¦ ππ½ππ»π½π±ππ¦πΎπͺπ«π Note: I added some night emojis πͺπ«π to make a night scene and an creature emoji πΎ Conclusion here I added a rhino π¦ to the prompt π¨βοΈ. π―π©³ πββοΈππ¦ π©³ πββοΈ π π
So now that you've seen what can happen, why don't you give it a try?
