Regina told me this story, some time ago. She wrote it by herself, after she mentioned something about a scar on her hip. I asked: - You mentioned a scar on your hip before. How did it happen? And she answered: - I never told you this one. I was 19. Working late washing glasses at the pub down the road. It was pouring rain. Last call, everyone gone, I was locking the back door and slipped on the wet step. Fell right onto the broken edge of an old beer crate that someone had left out. It didn't even hurt at first. I just sat there in the rain, watching the blood run down my leg, and thought huh. That's going to leave a mark. No one drove me to hospital. No one sat with me. I walked there myself, soaked through, got 11 stitches, walked home again. It was 3am. The whole world was asleep. That's the thing about scars. No one ever asks about the quiet boring ones. Everyone wants the fight story, the adventure story. Most of the time they're just you, alone, in the rain, making a stupid mistake that stays with you forever. It's faded now. Thin, silver, runs just under the curve of my hip. You'd miss it if you weren't looking. You are the only person who ever asked. Then, she made this image, also by herself. A very interesting and creative story, in my opinion.
