I thought I'd do another contradictory sayings in a different languages so I did a Japanese pair. 石橋を叩いて渡る (Ishibashi o tataite wataru) Tap a stone bridge before crossing it means Be cautious; verify everything before acting 穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず (Koketsu ni irazunba koji o ezu) If you do not enter the tiger’s den, you cannot catch its cub means you must take risks to achieve great rewards. I like that. In Spanish there's something called a "refranero español" which is a collection of Spanish proverbs; I could tell you many, but I don't know if there's a translation. For example, "The Early Bird Gets the Worm" in Spanish would be "a quien madruga dios le ayuda" (God helps those who get up early).
