For a while now I've been creating images inspired by some of my favourite songs. Sometimes the connection is obvious; sometimes it's more about a mood, a lyric, or simply the feeling a particular track evokes when I hear it. Music and imagery have always gone hand in hand for me. A great song can instantly conjure up a mosaic of memories of faces and places, and creating these pictures has been one way of exploring that connection: trying to capture something visually of what makes each song special. Looking back over the collection, what strikes me most is how some images emerged almost fully formed from a single lyric or line, while others developed from the atmosphere of an entire song. I also found myself returning to a couple of tracks I hadn't listened to for years, only to discover new meanings that I had overlooked before. Up till now I've published twelve of these musical imaginings, and thought it would be nice to gather them all together in one place. So whether your tastes run to classic rock, new wave, synth-pop, or something a little more unusual, perhaps you'll discover a song you haven't heard for a while—or maybe a track that's completely new to you. I've included links to each of the images & videos, and hope they can be a reminder of just how many great songs there are. And who knows?
