BudgetPixel (BP) isn’t just for images and video — it also includes a tool for generating music. Since I originally got into generative AI for making music, I want to write a bit about Music 2.0. MiniMax Music 2.0 Music 2.0 is an AI music generator released by MiniMax, and the official page is here: Since the site includes sample tracks, listening through them gives you a good sense of how wide the range is — it can generate quite a variety of music. My favorite genre is dance music, especially minimal techno, so I want to create instrumental tracks. But getting good results actually takes a bit of know-how. Lyrics [Intro] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Verse] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Chorus] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Bridge] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Chorus] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] [Outro] [Instrumental] [Instrumental] These lyrics are part of a prompt I regularly use because I want to generate tracks that get as close as possible to the ~4-minute limit. After trying a lot of different approaches, I found that if I leave everything blank, the result tends to be too short — so this is what I settled on. Music 2.0 also tends to keep the transitions between sections pretty tight. So even if you’re adding lyrics, it helps to insert pauses with [Instrumental] lines — that makes it much easier to get a track with a satisfying length. Prompt Adding a BPM is worth it. Music 2.0 won’t always follow it exactly, but it usually lands in the right tempo range. In Music 2.0, I’ve found that “thickness” often comes from how many instruments you explicitly mention . If you only specify the genre, the result can end up sounding a bit sparse—so try listing the key elements you want. Words that describe arrangement / progression (build, break, peak, tension-release, long-form, etc.) also help the track feel more structured. Minimal techno in the style of Detroit and Jeff Mills energy, 136 BPM, driving and hypnotic, tight punchy kick, rolling but controlled low-end, crisp hats, minimal percussion, subtle swing, sparse synth stabs, metallic textures, relentless groove, long-form arrangement with gradual micro-variations and tension-release, club-ready mix, avoid vocals See you — Let’s make your music.
