In Case You've Missed It: Google Maps In Use?

I had read a blurb somewhere that certain models were now tapped into Google maps in real time and wondered how true that was. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give a very brief prompt "Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Ponce Inlet, Florida", a place I have been to numerous times having grown up and lived just north of there for over 40 years. I got the lighthouse, the red brick, the windows where they should be, correct size and shape, the spot on the dunes... all I did not get were the surrounding buildings, gift shop, old lightkeepers house... and that could be simply because all I prompted was the lighthouse! I tried it again today. Union Pacific engines pulling a line of over a hundred chemical tanker cars, pushed by a single engine from behind, across the desolate landscape outside Green River, Wyoming. The above picture is one of those results. If you've ever driven along I80 just outside of Green River, Wyoming, you can definitely see the landscape. The scene is not 100% perfect, but it's pretty darned close. And of course, in this case, it could be an exact shot from a place along the tracks that I could not get to IRL! Almost lost in the clarity of the picture is that six months or so ago, you'd be lucky to get the engine to be the right color much less this much of a match to the actual Union Pacific engines as well. We are standing so close and working with this on a daily basis, I don't think we always see the subtle nuances as they happen. It's just that suddenly one day we're asking "when did this get so good?" Or is it just me?
