Glint and Cobra team-up in: "Dark duels in the Twisting Grove." [crossover WIP, working title TBD.]
By JMN
This is a rough first draft of a short collab with the one and only @suga2309 . Our OC's, the druid Glint and the assassin Cobra, have briefly met once in passing. Now they see each other again in forests of the Eldeen reaches, finding a horrific evil lurking within it that seeks to alter all surrounding life into mutated abominations. [The layout will be a quick play-by-play type script for now as a way to test narrative flow. I might elaborate and make it a short story after making more story boards...] Preamble: -Glint's side has been struck by the Eldritch horror's miasma after trying to inspect it. -He falls to his knee racked with overwhelming pain, struggling to stay conscious. [The first frame is Cobra mistaking Glint as the cause of the corruption] -Assuming this unknown druid was summoning a strange entity, Cobra emerges from the shadows and tries to end this dark ritual before it can begin... -Glint feels a different shadow fall across him now and reflexively tries to cast a shielding ward, but Cobra is too fast and interrupts him; skewering the druid's hand. -Glint barely feels the fresh wound; it is nothing compared to the agony befalling him. -Cobra's instincts kick-in and quickly realises three things: -His target's magic has a different aura than the miasma surrounding them, -His target is already hurt and distracted; clutching his side that is burning with a malodorous acid that seems to be spreading at a ridiculous pace! -Cobra wordlessly removes his dagger from Glint's hand and switches his attention to the umbral abomination that the forest has become around them. This thing is growing incredibly fast and must be stopped! -Glint understands that they are now both fighting for their lives against this undulating malicious entity, hellbent on infecting everything it can get its blackened branches on. [Then 2nd and 3rd frames are them teaming up to fight it] -Glint desperately tries to control the miasma from infiltrating his system by sheer will and begins to defend himself by summoning a quartz dagger from his wounded palm. -Glimmer the owl is preoccupied with dodging the flailing branches of corruption. -Meanwhile, expertly taking advantage of the eldritch horror being focused on assimilating the crippled druid, Cobra deftly strikes! -The cobalt clad assassin identifies the central weak point, leaping towards it with astonishing speed and lethal precision; guiding his enchanted blades towards the sickly glow emanating from its core... Do these two untimely allies vanquish an enemy once and for all, or does it escape? Get in the comments and maybe you can decide the fate of all those involved in the "Dark duels in the Twisting Grove"! [I was testing animation start-end points with the stills <above> and got some interesting combos <below>.] -[1st anim] Mixing resolution types [gpt2 medium 2k -> gpt2 low 1k] gives the final frame a grittier freeze-frame ending that is akin to an anime cliff-hanger, imho. I did not plan this at all; a happy accident Bob Ross would be proud of [probs not XD]. -[2nd anim] Cobra mistakenly stabbing Glint's hand was a fun twist and inspired me to change up the contextual dynamic of the scene to that of "mistaken identity turned instant allies". -[3rd anim] Dynamic mid-way point in the fight? I'm not sure how this will ultimately resolve just yet. Tell me what you think: -Is this is an ok base to build from? -What would you like to see change? -What do you think would be a fitting end to this fight or altercation? -Would you like to see more? I'm open to all forms constructive criticism, I hope to see you in the comments! :D
