Age of Representation Vs. AI

Age of representation: Today I ran a bunch of age testing with Gemini and was shocked to find out that my ladies ran younger than I was expecting them to be as most of them are prompted for mid to late 20s, including the one that Gemini pinged at 17-19. It was truly shocking that my 25 year old Lana was pinging as 17-19 not something I was meaning to put out. While most of my ladies are pinging 20-24 which is still a little young for what I had prompted and thought I was putting out. I then had several friends ask me about ages of their characters and several of them were hitting younger than they were planning including one going down as low as a toddler when they were thinking teenager. Point of this blog My point is a couple of things really starting with just because we are putting out something that people will ping the right age of doesn't make it true and we should be open to listening to feedback when someone says our images are pinging younger for them. If Gemini who has the whole internet can ping something 1 to 4 years younger than intended it is likely that humans can too. Recently I had a friend who went through something similar to this and when I ran their character through GPT and Gemini both hit that the character was 17-19 in age. They were prompting her for mid-20s. What can you do Prompting is everything! Make sure that you are prompting for more mature features for starts round baby faces automatically look younger because there's "baby fat," a mature face even though it is soft features mean that their "baby features" are gone. This is one of my basics for my ladies I think it's the same one as the other prompt: A young woman with long, flowing white-silver hair that catches the sunlight with a soft, metallic shimmer, gently tousled by a warm afternoon breeze. Her hair falls in soft waves down her back, with a few wispy strands brushing against her cheeks. Her eyes are large and vivid malachite green, flecked with hints of gold, giving her a radiant and mesmerizing gaze. Her complexion is fair with a natural blush, and a few freckles are scattered lightly across her nose and upper cheeks. She wears a calm, dreamy expression with a hint of curiosity. Just having a few context clues to help AI understand that she is not a teenager or a little girl does help. Take away The things I took away from this today is that maybe sometimes prompting a little older will help get you the age that you want to put out. I did not think I was putting out early 20s, AI age detection did. I've been told prompting exact age can help with this, but also people age differently so that could be hard for AI to determine and understand. As I talked about in my other blog about using the same model each time for your original characters it could also be good when able to use a start image to get consistency among your characters when putting them out!
